We’re still catching up on blogging some of the sessions that we did earlier in the year. I can’t believe it took so long to get this posted.   Kirsten contacted us on a referral from Sara and Ed. You may remember the family and baby photos we did with them and their beautiful little boy and his cool monkey pillows.

Kirsten has something that we do not.  Kirsten has GRACE.  We have accepted that WE are not graceful.  The bruise on my toe, the noises I make when I sit (or stand up), the coffee drips on Julia’s shirt and still bent glasses from a recent bicycling fall…all signs that God did not bless either of us with an overabundance of the graceful gene.  That’s okay. We’ve come to accept that as who we are. Hopefully our kids will learn someday to accept that of themselves too.  We gave Ainsley the nickname “Crash”, for a reason.  However, when Kirsten walks, she glides.  But it wasn’t only the outward sense of fluidity in motion, it’s internal too.  She has that balance of confidence and down-to-earth-ness (yes! my blog, I can make up phrases.).  She’s a trained and accomplished dancer who recently left the Sacramento Ballet Company to move to San Diego.  Her grace clearly carried over into her new role as a mother.  While she mentioned the usual nervousness that comes with being a new mom, it is obvious that she is a natural and LOVES the new role.  Luke’s quiet strength and casual demeanor helps create a very comfortable home to be in.

I mentioned in our summer newsletter that we’ve had several maternity and newborn photo shoots recently.  These two young ladies had a bit of a rough start in the world.  They came a bit early and got to spend some time under the caring and watchful eye of UCSD NICU for a while before coming home.  Their parents are obviously overjoyed that they are now home and safe.  They were born into an amazing family.  We hope that we get to show more photos of them as they grow into toddler-hood and beyond.

Newborn photo shoots are different than any other type of shoot.  We always aim to have fun, be comfortable, and just relax during every shoot, but there is a sense of peace that inevitably comes during each of our visits to a family with a newborn.  This was our 3rd time photographing this family.  By now, we kinda know what to expect. They are such easy people to get along with.  The new little addition to the family had a few rough nights in the week before we saw him, but he was a ready and willing subject during our time in their home.

While we were visiting Santa Rosa this weekend, we got a chance to do a shoot with beautiful baby Mackenzie.  Now many of you know just how much we love to do baby shots, so you can imagine how excited we were to get the call.  Here’s a sneak-peak of the session. More to come soon…..

She slept for much of the session, but gave us a few moments to see her gorgeous eyes.

Believe it or not, the Holidays are approaching.  We’ve decided to offer some holiday mini sessions in October. This is a great chance for a family, kids, or baby session for your holiday card.  Let us know right away if you are interested. These sessions tend to fill up fast.  If you can’t make these dates, or are interested in a full session, give us a call. We only have a limited number of sessions available before the holidays. Last Sunday I had 2 wonderful families who took advantage of our Celebrate Summer sessions.  Terri and Roger are previous clients.  I just love it when we get to do additional sessions as the family grows.  They wanted to keep it simple and just do a few shots of the family, the kids, and their beautiful new baby.

So we’re kinda behind on blogging. We have a bunch of stuff to share, but haven’t made the time to do it.  One of the photographers in the house just won an award, we’re getting into the summer spirit by going to the beach, and a few other fun sessions we’ve done that we hope to share soon.

Julia met up with baby G’s parents a few weeks ago. He is a happy and observant little fella and flashing his baby blues the whole time.

As a side note, the collage above is from MCP actions. They have some fantastic photoshop actions and collage templates that are really handy.

This little bundle of smiles is our niece, Olivia.  It’s wonderful to be able to photograph her when they come to San Diego to visit.  We wish we could see them more often, but money, time, and distance only allow a few precious visits a year.  She’s 7 months now and growing so quickly.
