I’m working on getting more photos printed for the house and office. This photo was shot when we were down in Coronado a few weeks ago.  Which do you prefer.. color or BW.  Let me know in the comments below…

After spending a week with us Hannah was probably a little tired of us sticking a big camera in her face, but she let Julia take  her to the park for more photos.  These were shot at Montevalle in Chula Vista as the sun set behind the trees.  We love this location because it has such a wide variety of scenes within a short walk.  If you missed part 1 or part 2 of Hannah’s senior photos, make sure to check them out.

Back to the beach for one last time before heading home.  She did great out on the surfboard for her first time.

I have to admit that I walked into this session with mixed emotions.  I always get a little nervous/ excited before a shoot, but taking family photos for another photographer can turn the nervous setting up a few notches.  On the other hand, Arlene is a good friend and her family is as easy going as you will find.  As a photographer, I have a gazillion  (yep…I counted) photos of our kids on my computer and the walls in our home.  But don’t have nearly enough photos of us together as a family.  Arlene was feeling the same thing and we set up the session for a morning before her kids went back to school.  I have often heard her talk about her unconditional love for her boys. Seeing her surrounded by her family, it is clear how much fun they have together.  We met at the pier in Pacific Beach and walked through an alley before making our way down to the beach.  We sat by the pier, played in the sand, and chased a few birds.  Thanks for a fun time Gapusan family!

Last Friday I got to live Jason’s dream and attend a Jay Reilly workshop. Jason was insanely jealous, as he should be.  I spent the day getting lighting, camera and business tips from Jay Reilly and hanging out with a group of great photographers.   We used Artist Alley in Oceanside for our first photoshoot with some great kids. This was followed up with another photoshoot on the beach with even more great kids, sunshine and surf.  If you are interested in attending a useful and fun workshop go see Jay.

Last week we stopped over at Torrey Pines State Beach in La Jolla for a family photo session with this wonderful family. We’ve talked about it before, but one of the things we enjoy about this job is getting to meet new people. It’s always such a pleasure watch and record a family as they hang out together.  It was clear from the moment we met them that they are a very close family.  They easily and comfortably interacted with each other. It was so neat to see the entire family hugging, jumping, and laughing.  It made is easy for us to just sit back and capture their interactions.

The First Annual Pride Martial Arts Beach party was a blast.  All of the families had a great time.  Feel free to contact me if you were there and want copies of the photos. -Julia

I’m so excited to show these photos.

Julie is another good friend from school. She and Jared have two awesome kids. They are  a family who clearly love to hang out with each other and just be casual. We played in the sand at near Crystal Pier in Pacific Beach. This place is easily becoming one of our favorite locations.

Check out the eyes on this kid. He totally loves to goof around and we had a great time just playing in the sand.

She has such a caring personality. She was a bit shy at first, but once she opened up, it was easy to see her quiet strength.

So this is the first weekend of summer.  I want to celebrate by taking some photos.  Julia and the kids are in Colorado for the weekend, so I need your help.

And because I don’t like to post without a photo. Here’s one from April when I took the kids to the beach. We’d played for a few hours then I made them be my models for a few shots. As you can see, they were less than thrilled.

A few weeks ago we got a visit from some good friends from Arizona.  We were able to sneak out to Ocean Beach with them for a few hours.  Here’s a shot of their beautiful family. Thanks again for a fun time Shelly and Todd!
